When someone we love goes away

I've always wondered what it felt like for people who lose their loved ones. I didn't have to wonder anymore when my lovely aunt passed away yesterday.

I am still in shock and can't believe 3 days ago was the last time i would ever hear her voice..and no, i will not be seeing her again, not in this life.

We cry because our loss hurts. For afterall, it is OUR loss. The person we weep for is in a better and would rather we celebrate.

Rest in peace Aunty. You will be sorely missed.

Weird things people do with Facebook

Facebook is not just a social media anymore, its now a 'toasting' media. May the smoothest talker win. i have many grudges with the site but like one of those necessary evils, i cant avoid taking a peek at people's profiles once in a while. For some, its a journal, with details (sordid and mild) of their private lives for all to view and "like".

For others, Facebook is a medium of attack. If someone offends you, i heard it's more effective to state the offence on your facebook status while everyone else wonders who could be owing you money or who broke your heart. This tactic, i heard it is supposed to make the guilty 'friend' crawl back to you or seeth in anger while plotting their own status attack! Intersteing heh? see why they've got most of us hooked? Some people (like me) are addicted to gist and can even be described as pathological people watchers. We love to find out who just had a baby and who the baby looks like. We love to 'like' people's wedding photos and 'awwwww' over pictures of couples in their intimate moments.

Some people's fingers are so sticky on the like button that even if Osama Bin Laden posted something like this ' I just had a wonderful time flying two planes into the world trade center buildings',  I am sure he will get someone to 'like' the update. Who in the world likes those crazy updates?

Now, back to facebook as a tool for toasting. I received a message on facebook that quotes:

"you seem to be a doctor. i am sick and my head jst started spinning thinking of u since last night what can i do to u quench it?"

This is just one out of a couple of messages i get once in a while from people who actually have pictures on their profile.(seriously?!!) At first i thought it couldn't be anything but spam but then again...you never know. Crazy world we live in.
